"An online study for those called to the teaching ministry of the Christian Church"

Minister Ginger London, MA
1.    Christian teaching is a divine calling.

To be called to teach is among the highest callings you can receive.

I Corinthians 12:28 -  “And God has placed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third
teachers, next, miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, managing, various kinds of languages.”

I Corinthians 12:29 - Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles?

Ephesians 4:11-12 – “And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists,
some pastors and teachers, For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying
of the body of Christ:”

The Christian teacher is…

A.    Entrusted with the sacred responsibility of studying and knowing the Word of God.

B.    Entrusted with carefully sharing the Word in such a way that the student/disciple “shall be able to
       teach others.”
2 Timothy 2:2

2.     God-called teachers need training.

A sense of calling in no substitute for competence.

II Timothy 2:15 – “ Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

3.    Teaching skills are improved through practice.

Teaching skills are learned “by doing.”

4.       The Bible is central to Christian Teaching – Word of Truth

Christian education or the teaching ministry of the church embraces many subject matters, but all
should be rooted in the Bible.

The Bible is the solution to every problem in life.
The Bible is the answer to every question in life.

Jesus said in
John 6:63 – “And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

God is spirit. We can only worship Him in spirit.
The very nature of the Bible is spirit.

To teach the Bible, you must approach it with your spirit.

Without the spirit, man cannot know God.
Without the spirit, man cannot teach God’s Word.
